NEET 2024 Dress Code – What to Wear and What to Avoid!

NEET 2024 UG Exam Dress code guidelines by NTA have some strict rules that both male and female aspirants have to follow. READ EACH AND EVERY POINT CAREFULLY!

NEET 2024 Exam dress code for male and female candidates

For Male Candidates

  • As per the dress code for male students, male candidates should ensure that they wear half-sleeve shirts/T-shirts. NTA does not allow full-sleeve shirts for the examination.
  • Clothes worn by male candidates should be light in color. Zip pockets, big pockets, big buttons and clothes with elaborate embroidery should not be there.
  • The NEET dress code 2024 prefers male candidates to wear trousers and simple pants. Candidates should not wear Kurta Pajamas.
  • In the examination hall, candidates cannot wear shoes. Therefore it is advisable that candidates wear sandals and chappals with a thin sole.

For Female Candidates

  • The NTA has specified in the dress code for females that female candidates should not wear clothes with elaborate embroidery, flowers, brooches, or buttons..
  • On the day of the examination, candidates should not wear clothes with full arm-length sleeves. So female candidates should wear half sleeve clothes only
  • Females should not wear jeans with big pockets and fashionable clothing as per the NTA NEET dress code.
  • Female aspirants can wear plain pants, and trousers not with any designs or big pockets.
  • Candidates should not wear Leggings and Palazzos as they are not allowed as mentioned in the dress code by NTA.
  • It is best to avoid high heels and thick sole shoes and instead opt for sandals or slippers. Female candidates can wear footwear with low heels.
  • Female candidates must avoid wearing any kind of jewelry like earrings, nose rings, rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets or anklets. Metal detectors will cause an unnecessary hassle if the metal is found on the person.

NOTE: Candidates who follow a certain religion that prescribes a customary dress can appear for NEET 2024 in their customary dress. According to the Delhi High Court order, SIKH candidates have permission to carry traditional kangha, Kara, and Kirpan with them. Additionally, female candidates have the allowance to wear a BURKHA. The authorities will consider these items as part of the customary dress.

At the time of filling NEET application form candidates will be asked whether they wish to wear the customary dress which contradicts NEET 2024 dress code, an image for reference is provided. Here, they must indicate that they wish to wear a customary dress. However, to help the exam conducting authority conduct the security checks smoothly, the candidate must report at least AN HOUR before the reporting time. In case of any deviation required due to unavoidable (medical, etc.) circumstances, specific approval of NTA must be taken before the Admit Cards are issued. It is advisable for candidates to follow the dress code of NEET carefully to avoid ‘unfair means’ or misconduct charges against them.
